Mid Herts Karate Club practices shotokan karate. The club has been running since the middle to late seventies under the instruction of  Sensei Ted Sambridge 4th Dan.
The club started in BAE sports and social club as time went by the club grew from strength to strength, as it grew BAE became too small so came the first move. We then went to the times club. This was not beneficial to the club and its students so again we moved to Stevenage girl's school. We were there until it closed as a girl's school we then went from there to Barnwell school. We have been at this venue for more than 13 years. During this time the day to day running of the club has been passed over to his son Sensei Paul Sambridge. The club was asked in November 2003 if it would like to set up another class and since 18th February 2004 we have expanded to Gt. Ashby community centre. Both clubs have a loyal following of  75 - 85 members. Our doors are always open to new students. The club has 10 black belts of various Dan grades ranging from 1st Dan to 5th Dan so there is always a black belt to teach a new student. Classes are run with a view to all the family being able to train together. The club provides and promotes a family enviroment so parents and children are not separated but train along side one another. The club has nine families who train together at present.
Sensei Paul Sambridge was awarded his 5th Dan (Godan) on 14th May 2009.
